A vehicle struck and damaged the traffic signal at Tyler Parkway & Burnt Boat Drive in Bismarck, according to the city’s Civic Alerts, prompting safety concerns and traffic adjustments.

Late Thursday evening, a vehicle hit the signal system at the busy Tyler Parkway and Burnt Boat Drive intersection. City crews reported the structure sustained “significant damage,” leaving some signal lights inoperable. The city has urged drivers to treat the intersection as a four-way stop until repairs are completed.

This location is a high-traffic corridor, connecting residential areas to shopping centers and main highways. Disruptions here can cause delays and increase risks during peak commuting hours.

Bismarck residents traveling through northwestern routes, particularly commuters heading to the Century Avenue corridor, have already experienced slower traffic. With schools and businesses in the area, temporary stop-sign adjustments are expected to remain in place until the city finishes repairs.

“Public Works crews are prioritizing this repair,” a spokesperson for Bismarck’s Traffic Operations Division said. “Safety is our top concern, and we appreciate the community’s patience while work is underway.”

Repairs are expected to take several days, depending on the availability of replacement parts. City officials encourage residents to check Civic Alerts for updates and plan alternate routes when possible. Drivers are reminded to use caution and allow extra travel time.
